Two sessions a week, plus reasonable daily contact. That cadence is not a scheduling detail — it is the part of the service that does the work.

Why twice a week

A weekly hour leaves six days in which a man is alone with a pattern that runs on isolation. Whatever happens on day two gets reported on day seven, by which point it has been rationalized, minimized, and folded into a story that makes sense.

Two contacts a week cuts that window roughly in half. More importantly, it changes what gets said. Something that happened yesterday is still raw enough to be described accurately. Something that happened six days ago has already been processed into a version.

What a session contains

A review of the week since the last one. Direct questions, asked the same way every time, and the value is entirely in whether you answer them honestly.

The plan under review. What held, what did not, what needs revising. A behavior plan built in month one for a life that changed in month three is a document rather than a plan.

What is coming. The next week specifically — travel, a difficult conversation, a stretch alone, a high-pressure period at work. Planned for in advance, in a calm state, rather than improvised at the moment of pressure.

The longer thread. Identity work runs underneath everything else and does not resolve in a session. It gets a piece of most of them.

Between-session contact

Reasonable daily contact means you can message your coach when something is happening rather than waiting for the next scheduled session. That is the point of it — the moment before is far more useful than the report afterwards.

Reasonable also means what it says. This is not a 24/7 service and it is not a crisis line. Coaching is a non-clinical service and is not equipped for acute risk. If you are in immediate danger or thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 — the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, available 24 hours a day — or call 911.

Format

Sessions run by secure video or by phone. In-person is available in Austin where it suits both sides.

Most men find phone or video easier for this particular subject rather than harder, and the practical advantage is that the cadence survives travel, a bad week, and a schedule that moves.

What it costs

$4,500 per month. Month to month — no eight-week commitment, no annual contract.

Coaching is not a billable service, so no superbill is issued and none can be. That is different from the IOP, which is a licensed service — see insurance and superbills.

What is expected of you

Attendance at both sessions. One a fortnight is not a reduced version of the service. It is a different, ineffective thing, and if attendance drifts we will raise it rather than quietly keep billing.

Honesty within a day. Not perfection. The single most useful habit in the whole arrangement is telling your coach something within twenty-four hours rather than sitting on it. Something disclosed quickly stays workable. Something that goes underground takes weeks of secrecy with it and does far more damage than the original event.

Running the plan. It only works while it is actually in place.

Stopping and restarting

Month to month means you can stop. Plenty of men run coaching intensively for a period, step back, and return during a harder stretch.

If you stopped and things went badly, come back. The belief that having failed again you have forfeited the right to ask is wrong, it is a feature of the pattern rather than an accurate read on the situation, and it has cost people years.
