How Iron Ridge compares

How Iron Ridge compares with residential sex addiction programs, national brands, Texas rehabs and weekly therapy, including where another option fits better.

Most men looking for help with compulsive sexual behavior or porn addiction are choosing between four kinds of program, and the names on the search results do not make the differences obvious. Residential facilities that specialize in sexual behavior. National brands with intensives measured in days. Texas rehabs and IOPs built for substance use that also list sex addiction. Weekly therapy. And Iron Ridge, which is none of those.

These pages lay out the differences honestly, including the situations where another option is the better fit. Every fact about another program is taken from that program's own public description; where we are not sure, we say so, and we do not characterize anyone's clinical quality. The comparison is about level of care, population, format, location and what the program is built for.

What Iron Ridge is

Texas' dedicated intensive program for men with compulsive sexual behavior and porn addiction: an eight-week intensive outpatient program, 9 to 12 clinical hours a week, in person in north Austin and by secure telehealth across Texas. All men. Every group is for compulsive sexual behavior only. No detox and no substance-use clients. A structured curriculum written for this pattern by a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist, with a separate program for partners run under the partner-trauma model. Private pay, $30,000 for the arc, with superbills for out-of-network reimbursement.

The short version of every comparison below: if a man's primary problem is his sexual behavior, he can keep his job and his home, and he does not need medical detox, an intensive outpatient program built for exactly that pattern is usually the right level. Where that is not true, the other option is better, and the pages say which.

The comparisons

One honest caveat

We run one of the four options, and we are not neutral. What we can offer is that our clinical assessment is a level-of-care determination first: if it says residential, we refer you there; if it says weekly therapy, we help you find it. The comparison pages are written the same way.
