Send us your insurance card and we will check your out-of-network benefits for you, then call you with what we find. Iron Ridge is out-of-network with every carrier, so what matters is what your plan pays for out-of-network outpatient mental health care. Most people don't know that offhand, and finding out from a member services line takes time you shouldn't have to spend.

What we check

  • Whether your plan includes out-of-network outpatient mental health benefits at all. Some plans, especially HMO and EPO plans, have none.
  • Your out-of-network deductible, and how much of it you have already met this year.
  • Your out-of-network out-of-pocket maximum, which is the most you would pay in a plan year before your plan covers the rest of allowed charges.
  • Your coinsurance after the deductible, and any session limits or annual caps.

What happens next

We call you back at the number you give us and walk you through what we found, in plain language. Then you decide how you want to pay: out-of-network billing, a superbill you submit yourself, or private pay with no claim. There is no obligation, and the call is confidential.

What a benefits check is, and is not

A benefits check tells you what your plan says it covers. It is not a claim, and it does not put a diagnosis on your record. Your carrier still makes the final determination when a claim is processed, so no one can promise a reimbursement amount in advance, and we won't.

To check your benefits we contact your carrier, so your carrier will know a provider asked. If you would rather your insurer hear nothing from us at all, skip this step: private pay involves no claim, no authorization and no contact with your insurer.

Keep your card off email and text

Email and text messages are not secure channels. Please send photos of your card only through the secure form on this page, which is HIPAA-compliant, or have your card ready when you call (512) 877-8616.

Frequently asked questions

Will you check my insurance benefits for me?

Yes. Send photos of the front and back of your insurance card through our secure form, or call (512) 877-8616 with your card handy, and we will check your out-of-network benefits and call you with what we find.

What do you check?

Whether your plan has out-of-network outpatient mental health benefits, your out-of-network deductible and how much you have met, your out-of-network out-of-pocket maximum, your coinsurance, and any session limits.

Is a benefits check a claim?

No. It does not file a claim or put a diagnosis on your record. We do contact your carrier to verify your benefits, so if you want your insurer to hear nothing from us, choose private pay and skip the check.

Can you tell me exactly how much I'll be reimbursed?

No one can promise that in advance. A benefits check tells you what your plan says it covers; your carrier makes the final determination when a claim is processed.

Can I email or text a photo of my card?

Please don't. Email and text are not secure. Use the HIPAA-compliant form on this page, or read the details to us on the phone.

Out-of-network. Private pay, out-of-network billing to your PPO, or a superbill you submit yourself. Nothing goes to your insurer unless you choose.
