Iron Ridge Coaching is built for men, and the design follows from that rather than being a marketing position.

Everything about the service — the cadence, the directness, the emphasis on action over insight, the way accountability is structured — comes from working with one population and building around what actually lands with them.

Why a men's service

The men who reach Iron Ridge share a recognizable profile. High-functioning. Competent everywhere else. Usually the person other people rely on. Carrying this privately for a decade or more, often with nobody knowing any part of it.

That profile produces specific problems that a general service handles badly:

Insight is not the missing ingredient. These are men who have read the books, understood the pattern, and can describe it accurately. What they cannot do is change it. A service organized around producing understanding gives them more of what they already have plenty of.

Willpower has failed here and nowhere else. Discipline built the career, the business, the physical condition, the reputation. That it does not work on this is genuinely disorienting, and the reflex is to conclude the problem is a character defect. It is not, and that reframe matters more than any technique.

The instinct is to manage the relationship rather than use it. A man who has spent twenty years presenting a competent surface will do the same thing in a coaching session unless someone names it. Good coaching names it early and keeps naming it.

Isolation is load-bearing. The private conclusion — that nobody else does this, that being fully known would end everything — has never been tested, because it was never allowed near anyone.

What the men's track looks like

Two sessions per week, plus reasonable daily contact. The cadence is the service. Detail in structure and cadence.

Direct accountability that does not run through your wife. The partner-as-monitor arrangement damages her and infantilizes him. A coach takes that role so the marriage does not have to carry it.

Behavior planning for real hours. Not general principles. The specific hours, contexts, access points, and states that carry risk in your life, and what you do in them.

Identity work. What kind of husband, father, and man you are actually trying to be, and how far the current version is from him. Slower than the rest, and the part that holds when rules do not.

Travel and high-risk periods planned in advance. Business travel, conflict at home, a particular kind of week at work, the stretch right after something goes well. These get planned for while you are clear-headed rather than improvised at the time.

What it is not

Coaching is a non-clinical service. It does not diagnose or treat any mental health condition and is not a substitute for therapy or medical care. If nobody has ever assessed what is driving the behavior, that assessment comes first — see coaching vs. IOP.

If you are in immediate danger or thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 — the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, available 24 hours a day — or call 911.

What it costs

$4,500 per month, month to month.

Partners

Coaching serves the client in front of us and includes nothing for your partner. If she is in distress, she has her own service with her own licensed provider, her own intake, and her own record — the Partner & Family Program, which she can contact directly without going through you.
