Iron Ridge Recovery opens in Austin: the only IOP in Texas built exclusively for men with compulsive sexual behavior disorder, with a partner program that runs alongside it

An eight-week intensive outpatient program treating one condition only, in person in Northwest Austin and by secure telehealth across Texas, fills a gap between weekly therapy and residential care.

AUSTIN, Texas — September 22, 2026 — Iron Ridge Recovery has opened an intensive outpatient program (IOP) built exclusively for men with compulsive sexual behavior, including compulsive pornography use, at 4030 W. Braker Lane, Suite 410, in Northwest Austin. The program began seeing clients on September 1, 2026, and is available in person and by secure video from anywhere in Texas.

Until now, a man in Texas whose pattern had outlasted weekly therapy had two options: keep going once a week, or leave the state for a residential program. Iron Ridge was built for the level of care between those two. Men attend 9 to 12 clinical hours a week for eight weeks while continuing to work and live at home, in groups made up only of men doing the same work. Admission is rolling, so treatment begins when a man is ready rather than when a cohort starts.

"Recovery is not primarily about controlling behavior," said Ian Birdwell, LPC, CSAT, Co-founder and Clinical Director of Iron Ridge Recovery. "It is about learning to see clearly, feel fully, connect honestly, and choose deliberately. The behavior is the part everyone can see. Our work is to understand what it has been doing for a man, and to help him build a life in which he no longer needs it in the same way."

Birdwell, a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist with seventeen years in wilderness, residential, intensive outpatient, and private-practice settings, designed the program's curriculum. Every group and every individual session is led by a licensed clinician, and each man meets individually with his therapist at least weekly, twice weekly where clinically indicated at no additional cost.

The partner is treated, not managed

Iron Ridge treats the partner of the man in treatment as a client in her own right. The Partner & Family Program, directed by Co-founder Roxcy Brown, LMFT-Associate, CCPS-C (supervised by Billy Myers, LMFT-S, Texas license 201183), provides her own clinician, her own weekly individual therapy, and a weekly clinical partner group, following the Multidimensional Partner Trauma Model developed by the Association of Partners of Sex Addicts Trauma Specialists (APSATS). The partner program is included when he enrolls and is available on its own when he does not.

"What a partner experiences on discovery is not a disappointment. It is a trauma, with its own symptoms and its own treatment," said Roxcy Brown. "She does not need him to be in treatment to get help, and she does not need to be doing well for him to get help. Both of them get their own clinician from day one."

Privacy as a design decision

Iron Ridge is private pay and out of network. It does not bill insurance, contact carriers, or seek authorization, so no claim and no diagnosis is placed on a carrier's record. A superbill is provided for a client to use or not. Men in the telehealth program attend with cameras on from a private room, a condition of admission. "I built this for the man who has a great deal to lose and has been managing this alone for years because every option looked like it would cost him more than the problem," said Ian Brown, Founder and CEO. Iron Ridge operates under the individual Texas clinical licenses of its treating clinicians. A standalone clinical assessment is available for $300, credited in full toward the program on enrollment. Consultations are confidential and are answered within one business day.
